Research & Evaluation

NERC conducts formative and summative evaluations of educational programs, including impact assessment. We have wide-ranging experience in data collection strategies, including traditional surveys, computer-aided telephone interviews (CATI), interviews, focus groups, and web-based collection systems. Our team provides support in sampling design and methodology and develops large-scale survey instruments scalable to the requirements of particular studies. NERC research scientists and analysts have extensive experience in educational data analysis using all major statistical programs, including SPSS, SAS, and Excel, and are highly skilled at both descriptive and high-level inferential statistical techniques. NERC staff has evaluated a range of federal discretionary grants, including Elementary and Secondary School Counseling, Reading First, Safe Schools/Healthy Students, and Teaching American History.
