WASHINGTON, DC — October 25, 2010 — The Educational Policy Institute’s President and CEO, Dr. Watson Scott Swail, was just invited to the Postsecondary Advisory Board of AVID(Advancement Via Individual Determination). AVID is a college-readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll in four-year colleges. AVID Postsecondary aims to follow students to and through higher education to ensure success at the postsecondary level.
Dr. Swail, as part of an advisory team, will help examine the work of the AVID Postsecondary Initiative, whose purpose is to work with institutions of higher education with the goal of increasing academic success, retention, and completion. With the support from The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the AVID Center has added 11 Texas colleges and universities as postsecondary members, and now serves 14 colleges in the states of California, Minnesota, Texas and Washington.
