EPI's weekly illustration of education data trends — July 22, 2014
According to ACT, about two thirds (64 percent) of recent high school graduates met the ACT College Readiness Benchmark in English in 2013, as did 44 percent of students in reading and mathematics and 36 of those in science. However, as illustrated in the above chart, additional students were within striking distance of achieving those benchmarks. In English, 9 percent of students scored within 2 points of the benchmarks, and 13 percent of students were within that same range in reading. Eight percent of students in mathematics and 16 percent of students in science were in that two-point range.
