Top Research Universities in the United States 2010

Ranked by Total Research Dollars

If you ever wondered where the research funding goes, here it is. The data here, from the The Center for Measuring University Performance at Arizona State University and the University of Amherst, showcases the total revenue for 2010 by total research funding and federal research funding. Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has almost twice the funding as Number 2 University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Private institutions receive a lot of federal funding, but so do public universities. In total, over $58 billion in federal funding was sent to institutions in 2010.
