How Many Years of Education do People 25 Years and Older Have?

1960 to 2015

Data from the US Census Bureau show that the number of people aged 25 and older continue to increase their level of education. In 2015, 33 percent of this group had attended at least 4 years of college, and another 26 percent had 1 to 3 years of college. Twelve percent of the 25 and older group had less than four years of high school.

Fifty years previously, this trend was pretty much reversed. Only 9 percent of the adult population had gone to college for 4 years or more plus 9 percent who had 1 to 3 years of college. A whopping 33 percent of adults had less than four years of high school.
