A marginal percentage of US high school students are adequately prepared for college and career, according to Iowa City-based ACT. The 2018 data released in November 2018 illustrate that only 27 percent of high school students meet the ACT benchmarks in Science, Math, Reading, and English. Taken separately, 36 percent of students met the Science standards, 40 percent Math, 46 percent Reading, and 60 percent English.
